About the Owners

As the owners of the Ivy Lodge, we believe that the course of events in our lives has led us to where we are, and operating the inn is our true passion and purpose. We are proud to maintain the heritage of Ivy Lodge, and we have been privileged to meet many amazing people along the way. No matter what brings you to Newport, we hope you’ll consider Ivy Lodge for its quintessential Victorian feel and one-of-a-kind charm the inn has possessed for centuries.

Don Jursek

Don has had extensive training in culinary arts and was previously a cook at Ken’s Steakhouse in their famous Café V. Upon earning a degree in business and finance, he changed careers to banking. After 26 years, Don retired from Brown Brothers Harriman, the oldest and largest partnership bank in America, where he was Senior Vice President and Division Executive.

Jacqui Jursek

Over the past 26 years, Jacqui has had many passions—the first of which is being the mother of two wonderful sons. She is skilled as an interior designer and space planner, and she had her own design business for residential and commercial spaces. For many years, she worked at one of New England’s largest garden centers, studying and selling plants, trees, and shrubs. For the past 10 years, she also studied culinary arts; during this time, she worked as a personal cook and catered to large groups for lunches and dinners.

About Our Staff

Don and Jacqui are proud to work alongside an incredible team of devoted professionals. Our staff members possess extensive knowledge about Newport and the surrounding areas and are eager to make guests feel at home, whether they’re socializing in one of our historic rooms, refueling in our dining room, or lounging outside on our wrap-around porch. All meals are cooked to order by our talented chefs and served in our dining room, which was designed to foster great conversation and enjoyment for all guests.

Additionally, our housekeepers have incredible attention to detail to ensure that all of Ivy Lodge’s unique rooms remain in spectacular condition. Whether you want to take a short stroll to the Cliff Walk or you’re just looking to relax in our private neighborhood, the staff will make sure that you get exactly what you’re looking for!

Very comfortable

My parents and my aunt and I really enjoyed our stay at the Ivy Lodge last week on Monday and Tuesday nights. The rooms and beds were very comfortable, the breakfast was delicious both days and we availed ourselves of the different seating areas outside and inside several times. We also enjoyed meeting a few of your other guests.

Consistently Amazing

My husband and I just returned from a 5 day stay at Ivy Lodge. This was our 3rd visit and we are already planning our 4th. The home is lovely, comfortable and spotless. We feel as though we are staying with friends and family. Don and Jacqui are so welcoming and accommodating we couldn’t ask for more. Every room is different and each is a gem. Breakfast every morning is such a fun time, not to mention delicious.

We were able to take advantage of the EBikes that are there and had a wonderful morning biking all over Newport. We walked over to a Mansion for a tour, which was right around the corner. We also walked over to the Cliff Walk. The location is truly ideal.

I can’t imagine staying anywhere else when in Newport. We were joined by some friends for this visit and they were as taken with the Ivy Lodge as we are.

Love it!

The inn is gorgeous, clean, and well kept. The entryway alone will take your breath away. The breakfasts were delicious. We greatly enjoyed our stay in the Library room. We will definitely be back. I would absolutely recommend the Ivy Lodge to anyone visiting Newport.

“Cannot say enough good things about this place! The owners were friendly, nice and helpful with everything and anything. The lodge itself? Absolutely stunning! We felt as though we were staying in one of the mansions we were there to see. Close to all of the action. Very clean. Breakfast was delicious! Wish we could have stayed longer.”

Stunning setting, friendly staff

Lovely stay with very welcoming staff and a tasty breakfast. Really appreciated the snacks and hot chocolate available on arrival. Stayed in the cozy Pine Room with very well appointed bathroom—loved the deep soaking tub. The hallway and staircase are just stunning, as are all the common rooms. Convenient to the Cliff Walk and downtown area which had lots of eating choices. Would stay again.
